We are seeking spirited and motivated ultra runners that are passionate about running and enjoy sharing that passion with other runners. As an Ambassador you’ll become an expert on the Shangri-La Marathon, join volunteer team and help contribute to making Shangri-La Marathon a great experience for everyone.

The goal through the Ambassador Program is to increase awareness of Shangri-La Marathon to runners around the world. We know that the best way to learn about an event isn’t from an ad or commercial you see, but what you hear from your friends and family. Word of mouth is and always has been more powerful than any commercial marketing.

For example, when a friend tells you about an amazing and beautiful marathon they ran, they show you the medal they earned, you listen, you want to know more about it and how you can attend the next one, to earn your medal, so you can share your story.

This is not a big corporation, everything is done by volunteer support. This is a grassroots program to help tap into the world of runners and expose them to one of the most incredible and unique adventure marathons in the world by running Shangri-La Marathon. As an Ambassador you can be a part of our team and plus run the enchanting Shangri-La Marathon!

To make this mutually beneficial there are expectations on how Ambassadors contribute. There are many ways to help, you don’t need to do everything, choose the tasks and activities that you feel most comfortable doing, the choice is yours. The level of effort you put into this is what you will get from the program. Ambassadors will be given a unique promotion code to share and spread the word. However, before jumping the gun, make sure you are willing to commit the time and energy to being a Shangri-La Marathon Ambassador.

• SPREAD THE WORD

  Share information about the Shangri-La Marathon event. Share with friends, family, colleagues, runners, local running businesses and clubs about your excitement for running the historic Shangri-La Marathon, invite runners to join you.

• SHARE ONLINE

  Got a personal or business website, a blog? Include links or references to the Shangri-La Marathon on your website. Socially connected online? Share on Facebook, Twitter, and your favorite social media platform with information and links to the Shangri-La Marathon. We can even provide suggested ideas, but you are open to being creative and having fun here. We encourage frequent communication about your running goals and accomplishments that inspire runners.

• DISTRIBUTE MATERIALS

  Distribute Shangri-La Marathon event materials in your local hometown, such as local sporting and running stores, local running clubs and meet ups, local marathon race events, etc. Optional if multiple Ambassadors work together at events, then additional volunteers can come work together and even setup a booth at race expos.

• WEAR SHANGRI-LA MARATHON GEAR

  Wear the Shangri-La Marathon gear when out in public and running.

• VOLUNTEER SUPPORT

  Provide volunteer support at the event. Opportunities range from the pre-race preparation, runner greeting, race check-in, course information meetings, language translations, bus ride to the start line, start line and course preparations, finish line assistance, and wrap up. Additional volunteer opportunities available based on interest and involvement.

• FEEDBACK PARTICIPATION

  Participate in our group discussions and surveys, as we strive to improve the event each year, help us with your insights and ideas.

• BE PROFESSIONAL

  Above all else, when talking about the Shangri-La Marathon event, always be professional, positive, and courteous. You are representing this event and the brand.   Participate in pre and post race interviews and news stories, merchandise giveaways, Sponsorship product giveaways, guest speaking at course information meetings and award ceremony.
